West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said that Bollywood genius Shah Rukh Khan will join the virtual introduction of the 26th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) on January 8. It will honor Satyajit Ray to check his introduction to the world centennial year, and late Bengali entertainer Soumitra Chatterjee.

 

Stating that the “show should go on”, the central priest said that the current year’s KIFF will be hung on a more limited size in a tweet. “Together we will beat this pandemic. In any case, the show should go on. We are proceeding with #KIFF 2021 practically, on a more limited size. Happy that my sibling Shah Rukh Khan will go along with us for all intents and purposes at the debut occasion on Jan 8, 4 pm,” Banerjee said on Twitter.

The seven-day celebration will notice accolades for two symbols of Bengal film – Satyajit Ray on his introduction to the world centennial and Bengali entertainer Soumitra Chatterjee who kicked the bucket of post-Covid confusions in November a year ago. ‘Apur Sansar’, Ray’s work of art and furthermore Chatterjee’s introduction film, will be screened at the virtual initiation.
